Challenge Terms

Graftcode Building Challenge at the Conference Booth

1. Scope

These Challenge Terms govern the "Graftcode Building Challenge at the Conference Booth" (the "Competition"), a skill-based quiz competition held at the Graftcode booth during WeAreDevelopers 2026 in Berlin, Germany (on-site), during the booth's opening hours on the event days (see the notice at the booth).

The Competition is free to enter. No purchase, payment, stake or other consideration is required to participate or to win. The Competition is not a lottery, prize draw, raffle or game of chance: the outcome is determined solely by the participant's skill (number of correct answers and speed), not by chance.

By participating, you accept these Challenge Terms.

2. Eligibility and Participation

Participation is open to natural persons who are at least 18 years of age at the time of participation.

The following persons are not eligible to participate:

  • employees, officers and directors of the Organizer;
  • contractors and consultants directly involved in organizing or administering the Competition;
  • immediate family members (spouse, parents, children and siblings) and members of the same household of the persons listed above.

To participate, you must provide accurate and complete information and create a Graftcode account by providing a valid email address and password, or by signing in using a supported third-party authentication (OAuth) provider (GitHub, Google). Creating an account or signing in gives you access to the Graftcode Conference Portal, through which the Competition is run.

The Organizer may verify eligibility at any time and may exclude any participant who does not meet these conditions.

3. How the Competition Works

The Competition consists of six (6) different Building Challenges, each followed by a separate quiz about the Graftcode product.

To take part in a challenge, a participant:

  • Signs in to the Graftcode Conference Portal (account or OAuth);
  • Selects one of the available Building Challenges;
  • Completes the selected technical task; and
  • Takes the related quiz.

The Building Challenge is a prerequisite for participation only and is not scored as part of the Competition. Scoring is based solely on the quiz: the participant's objective is to answer as many quiz questions correctly as possible, in the shortest possible time.

A participant may attempt each individual Building Challenge only once using the same email address. Multiple attempts at the same Building Challenge using the same email address are not permitted.

A participant may complete up to six (6) different Building Challenges. Where a participant completes more than one, only that participant's best quiz result is considered for the final ranking. The best result is determined first by the highest number of correct answers and, in the event of a tie, by the shortest quiz completion time.

4. Winner Selection

The Competition closes at 15:00 on July 10, 2026 (the last event day). The Organizer determines the final ranking after the Competition has closed.

The final ranking is determined as follows:

  • Only each participant's best eligible quiz result is considered;
  • The participant with the highest number of correct answers ranks higher;
  • If two or more participants achieve the same number of correct answers, the participant with the shorter quiz completion time ranks higher.

The participant ranked first receives the First Place Prize; the participant ranked second receives the Second Place Prize.

The Organizer's determination of the ranking is final, subject to Section 7 (Fair Play and Disqualification).

5. Prizes and Prize Collection

Prizes. There are prizes for the first two places. Each prize consists of a physical prize together with an additional monetary prize, as set out below.

First Place Prize

  • Physical prize: LEGO® Technic Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000, gross value EUR 788.98.
  • Additional monetary prize: EUR 87.66.
  • Total prize value: EUR 876.64.

Second Place Prize

  • Physical prize: VITURE Luma Ultra XR/AR Glasses, gross value EUR 639.00.
  • Additional monetary prize: EUR 71.00.
  • Total prize value: EUR 710.00.

The additional monetary prize is not paid out to the winner. It is applied in full by the Organizer to cover the flat-rate income tax due on the prize, as described in Section 6 (Taxes). The physical prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, or convertible to cash.

Winner announcement and collection. Prizes may be claimed only on July 10, 2026, after the Competition has closed, at the Graftcode booth. The Organizer will announce the winners at a time determined by the Organizer and communicated during the event at the booth and/or by email to participants.

To claim a prize, the winner must:

  • be present in person at the Graftcode booth;
  • respond when their winning email address is announced by the Organizer at the booth (announced up to three (3) times);
  • verify their identity by confirming ownership of the account/email used for the winning entry and presenting a valid photo ID if requested by the Organizer; and
  • personally collect the prize.

If a winner is not present at the announcement, does not respond after the third call, or cannot verify their identity, the winner forfeits the prize. The Organizer may immediately award a forfeited prize to the next eligible participant in the final ranking.

6. Taxes

Each prize consists of a physical prize and an additional monetary prize (see Section 5). The additional monetary prize is not paid out to the winner: it is withheld and applied in full by the Organizer to cover the flat-rate income tax (10% of the total prize value) due on the prize won in the Competition.

The Organizer, acting as the withholding agent (płatnik), will calculate, collect and remit the tax due to the competent Polish tax authority (Urząd Skarbowy). By participating, the winner consents to this. The winner agrees to provide any information reasonably required by the Organizer to meet its tax reporting obligations.

Any further personal taxes that may arise for a winner in the winner's country of residence are the winner's own responsibility.

7. Fair Play and Disqualification

The Organizer may disqualify any participant and void any result where the participant, in the Organizer's reasonable assessment:

  • manipulates or attempts to manipulate the Competition, the quiz, the timing, or the results;
  • uses unauthorized tools, scripts, automation, or external assistance;
  • tampers with, damages, or misuses the competition computer or the Conference Portal;
  • uses another person's account, a false identity, or multiple accounts to circumvent the one-attempt-per-challenge rule;
  • is ineligible under Section 2; or
  • otherwise breaches these terms or acts fraudulently or in bad faith.

Where a result is voided, the Organizer may re-determine the ranking and reallocate any affected prize to the next eligible participant.

8. Changes, Suspension and Cancellation

The Organizer may modify these terms or modify, suspend or cancel the Competition (in whole or in part) for good cause — including technical failure, tampering, circumstances beyond the Organizer's reasonable control, or where the proper conduct of the Competition cannot otherwise be guaranteed. In doing so, the Organizer will take participants' legitimate interests into account and, where reasonable, give notice at the booth and/or by email.

9. Availability and Technical Issues

The Organizer does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability of the Conference Portal or the competition computer. Where a technical fault materially affects a participant's quiz attempt, the Organizer may, at its reasonable discretion, permit a re-attempt or disregard the affected result in the interest of fairness.

10. Liability

The Organizer is liable without limitation for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, for intent and gross negligence, under mandatory statutory liability (including product liability law), and to the extent it has assumed a guarantee.

For slight negligence, the Organizer is liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation (an obligation whose fulfilment is essential to the proper conduct of the Competition and on which participants may reasonably rely), and such liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of arrangement. Any further liability of the Organizer is excluded.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable mandatory law.

12. Privacy

Controller. Graftcode S.A. (details above) is the controller of your personal data for this Competition.

Data we process. Email address; account information; authentication method and data received from your chosen OAuth provider (name, email, provider user ID); Building Challenge progress; and quiz results (answers and completion time). For winners, we may also process identity-verification information at prize collection.

Purposes and legal bases.

  • Creating and maintaining your account and providing access to the Conference Portal, and administering the Competition, determining winners and awarding prizes — performance of the arrangement you enter into by participating (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR);
  • Meeting our tax and other legal obligations in connection with the prizes — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR);
  • Preventing manipulation and fraud and enforcing these terms — legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR);
  • Displaying the full email address of top-scoring participants on a public leaderboard/top-scorers screen at the Graftcode booth at the end of the Competition — on the basis of your separate consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). This consent is optional and is not a condition of participating; you may take part in the Competition and win a prize whether or not you give it. You may withdraw this consent at any time (including by contacting us at the booth or via conference@graftcode.com), in which case your email will not be shown or will be removed from the display, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Public leaderboard consent. If you give this optional consent, you agree that, should you be among the top scorers, your full email address will be shown on a screen visible to other people at the Graftcode booth when results are announced. This consent is separate from your acceptance of these Challenge Terms: it is given by a distinct opt-in, is not required in order to participate or to win, and can be withdrawn at any time.

Recipients. Your data may be shared with our service providers acting on our instructions (e.g. hosting and portal providers) and with tax authorities where legally required. Your chosen OAuth provider processes data under its own privacy policy.

Retention. We keep Competition data for 6 months after the event, and longer only where required to comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax records) or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, after which it is deleted.

Your rights. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to processing of your data, and to data portability; where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You may exercise these rights via servicese@graftcode.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Poland, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), or the authority in your country of residence.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Challenge Terms are governed by the laws of Poland. If you participate as a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence; in particular, consumers resident in Germany continue to benefit from mandatory German consumer-protection law.

Nothing in these terms restricts any mandatory statutory rights a consumer has to bring proceedings in, or benefit from the courts of, their country of residence.

14. Final Provisions

If any provision of these Challenge Terms is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.

Recourse to the courts is excluded only where legally permissible for the Organizer's ranking and disqualification decisions; this does not affect any mandatory consumer rights.
